    Blood Pressure Check

    Know your numbers

High blood pressure rarely has symptoms, so a simple check is the only reliable way to know where you stand.

    Explained on the day

Your pharmacist talks you through your reading and what it means for your heart health.

    Referred if needed

If your reading is raised, we arrange follow-up monitoring or refer you to your GP practice.

Am I eligible for an NHS blood pressure check?

    • Aged 40 years or over
    • Registered with a GP in England
    • No existing diagnosis of hypertension (high blood pressure)
    • Want an NHS clinic blood pressure check at the pharmacy
    • Not had a blood pressure check in the last 5 years

If your clinic reading is raised, we can advise on next steps, which may include ambulatory blood pressure monitoring where appropriate.

    What To Expect

    What this service involves

Your pharmacist takes your blood pressure using a validated monitor, usually taking more than one reading so the result is accurate. The reading is explained to you straight away. If it is within a normal range, we advise when to check again. If it is raised, we can fit a 24 hour ambulatory monitor or refer you to your GP practice, so nothing is missed.

    Private and relaxed
